Durpin Monastery
Formally known as the Zong Dog PalriFo-Brang Gompa, Durpin monastery was consecrated by Dalai Lama in 1976. Located at Durpin Hill, it is Kalimpong’s largest monastery and is important because it holds the sacred Kangyur(Buddha’s recorded teachings) carried by Dalai Lama during his exile. The Gompa is worth a visit for its impressive wall paintings in the prayer room, and a rare three-dimensional mandala on the second floor.

Dr Graham’s Home
